Skin Analysis During a Professional Facial
So, how does a facial work?
A facial consists of many steps. You will start with a consultation where you talk about your concerns and your current skincare regiment. Then, your beauty therapist will clean your skin thoroughly. At this time, your beauty therapist will examine your skin and analyze it to determine what the next step is. Once your analysis is done, steam will be used to warm up your skin and open up your pores. This also allows black and whiteheads to be removed easier. Then, your beauty therapist will exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin cells that are on the surface. Your beauty therapist will then massage your face to help to relax you while stimulating your skin. A facial mask will be applied, depending on your skin type. Once that is done, moisturizer will be applied, and your esthetician will talk to you about continuing care at home. What does a skin specialist look for during a facial analysis?
Your beauty therapist will look at your skin under a bright light to determine multiple things. He or she is looking for the type of skin that you have (dry, oily, etc.) and if you have any problems (such as blackheads, dehydration, etc.). Then, he or she will look at your skin using a magnifying lamp. This is used to see your skin even better. He or she will be able to see things that they couldn't see before. Once the analysis is completed, your beauty therapist will be able to determine the best course of treatment, as well as things that you can do at home to continue to care for your skin. What are some common questions that they may ask you during your consultation?
During your consultation, you may be asked multiple questions. These include:What are you hoping to get out of your facial?
In order to determine the best course of treatment, your esthetician needs to know what your skin goals are. Do you want smoother skin? Less black and whiteheads? Firmer skin? What is your diet like?
Your diet can affect the look of your skin, so it is important that you talk about your diet. What do you eat regularly? Are you trying to lose weight and you have cut back on something recently?
How much water do you drink?
Dehydration is terrible for your skin so your beauty therapist will want to know how much water you take in during the day.
What medications are you on? Do you take any vitamins or supplements?
Any medications that you put into your body can affect your skin. Some medications cause breakouts. Others may cause dry skin. All of these can change your treatment plan.
